Heating Networks 2023

While 2022 saw cash backs for residential homes across the UK, Heat Networks (community energy centers) providing heat to apartment blocks, were not included in this scheme as they incur business rates rather than residential.

The industry has now been informed of an obligatory registration scheme for all Energy Centers in the UK through the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). The requirement to register your Heat Network with BEIS has a very tight deadline of 6 January 2023 So be sure to make time for the process.

Before you start, please read the Guidance form: Guidance on the pass-through requirements for
energy price support provided to intermediaries - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The official announcement from Government is below:

To support the delivery of the Energy Bill Relief Scheme, the Government is requiring all heat suppliers to provide information about the heat network(s) they operate. This will involve submitting your name, business address and contact details in the Heat Networks Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) pass-through notification form. This information is needed to support the delivery of the investigation and resolution of customer complaints by the Energy Ombudsman and the General Consumer Council for
Northern Ireland (CCNI). Heat suppliers are asked to complete the web form by 6 January 2023 to ensure that their details are up to date.
